ABOUT JOSH

Hi! I’m Josh Kirsh, and I’m running as an independent for the NSW Legislative Council.

I’m a lawyer, public servant, community advocate and volunteer paramedic dispatcher. I’ve also worked as a corporate consultant, a podcast producer, a bookkeeper, and on one very fun evening, a stand up comedian. I guess I can now add politician to the list (as though anyone would really want to).

I’ve advocated for my community at the highest levels. I’ve given evidence before Parliament and contributed to public inquiries. I’ve watched time and time again how elected leaders tell people in the community that they know better. I’ve seen first-hand the way those elected to represent us fail to listen, and fail to act.

As your representative, I will always put the needs of our state first. I’m not beholden to preselectors, or big donors, or party bosses. I’m accountable to you - the people of New South Wales. I’m running to share my ideas, but also to elevate new approaches from across the community.

My career has been all about lifting people up and being there when they need help most. I want to continue to do that in Parliament, because we need more helpers - and fewer blowhards.

As a student advocate, I sat with young people who’d experienced antisemitism first hand on university campuses, and gave them all the support they needed. As a dispatcher, I take calls from people experiencing medical emergencies. They’re scared, they’re hurting, and they need help quickly.

I’m hoping that, with your help, I can make things better for a lot of people in our state who feel left behind, alone, and abandoned. Together, we can address urgent challenges, and make real change here in New South Wales.
