Your details, kept carefully.
What we collect when you join, volunteer, chip in or get in touch, what we do with it, and who else sees it.

Who we are
This website is run by the Josh for NSW campaign: Josh Kirsh and the party he leads, standing for the NSW Legislative Council. In this policy “we” means the campaign.
Registered political parties and candidates are largely exempt from the Commonwealth Privacy Act. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles anyway, and this policy says how.
What we collect
Only what you type into a form, and only for the reason the form gives.
Joining as a member
Your name, street address, date of birth, mobile, email and how you heard about the campaign. We need these to check you are enrolled to vote in NSW, which every member must be.
Volunteering
Your name, email, mobile and anything you tell us, plus your street address, suburb and postcode if you give them. Signing up also creates a volunteer login, so you can choose shifts on your phone. We use your address to put the polling booths nearest you first.
Chipping in
Your name (or your company's name and ABN), email, street address and the amount. Card and wallet payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
Events
Your name, email, postcode, mobile if you give it, and your answers to any questions the event asks.
The mailing list and Contact
For the mailing list, your email, and your first name and postcode if you give them. A Contact message and the name and email you send it with are emailed to Josh.
Sharing your story
Your name as you want it shown, suburb, email, your words and your video if you send one. Nothing is published until we have watched it, and then only your name, suburb, words and video, never your email. Ask us and we will take it down and delete it.
What we do with it
- Keep one record for each person, matched by email address, so you are never on our lists twice.
- Send you campaign news by email, but only if you asked for it. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Confirm event bookings and volunteer shifts, and send the reminders that go with them.
- Issue donation receipts and keep the records electoral funding law requires.
- Reply to you, if you wrote to us.
We record whether our campaign emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we know what people find useful. We do not sell, rent or swap your details with anyone.
Who else sees it
The NSW Electoral Commission
Electoral funding law requires us to disclose reportable donations, with the donor's name and address, to the NSW Electoral Commission, which publishes them. Donors are checked against the electoral roll, which is why your address is required, and a donation we are not allowed to keep is refunded. A registered party also gives the Commission its list of members, and the Commission may contact you to confirm you are one.
The services we run on
These hold or carry your details on our behalf, and use them for nothing else:
- Supabase, our database.
- Vercel, which hosts this website.
- Stripe, which processes donations and ticket payments.
- Resend, which sends our emails.
- OpenStreetMap's geocoder, which turns a volunteer's address into a point on the map.
Some of these store data outside Australia, including in the United States. Apart from these, we share your details only where the law requires it.
Cookies and tracking
This website runs no advertising trackers. We count visits to see which pages people read, without cookies and without keeping your IP address or anything else that identifies you. Stripe sets its own cookies when you chip in, to prevent fraud. If you mark an event as one you're going to, your browser remembers that on your own device; it isn't sent to us. Like every website, our host keeps short-lived server logs, including your IP address, for security.
How we keep it
Your details sit in a private database that only the campaign team can open, each signing in with their own account. Volunteers never see the details of members, donors or anyone else. We keep donation records for as long as electoral funding law requires, and everything else until you ask us to remove it or the campaign no longer needs it.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from campaign emails at any time, from the link in any of them.
- Ask to see what we hold about you, or to correct it.
- Ask us to delete it. We will, except donation records the law makes us keep, and a note that you asked us not to email you, so we don't.
